From Eve to Sarah to Leah to Hannah to Ruth to Elizabeth to Mary, the Scriptures are filled with the stories of the heart of a woman who was given the divine opportunity to raise the next generation by a call of the Father. When I get to heaven, I can’t wait to sit down with the mothers who went before me and ask them the questions that every mother desires to ask.

“Hosanna!” was the word that began the most explosive 7 days in all of eternity. The 7 days preceding the event known as “Easter” … is a hallowed time filled with remembrances of the most difficult … yet the most powerful days … in Jesus’ life. On Palm Sunday, Jesus was celebrated and hailed as a King. Palm Sunday is a prelude … it is an invitation. Palm Sunday is a prelude to the glory of resurrection … and it is a sacred invitation to worship your King Triumphant.

A few years ago, when I went for my annual physical exam, my beloved doctor told me some astounding news. “Carol,” he began, as he took off his glasses and looked straight into my eyes, “You are getting older.” I was incredulous! The nerve of this doctor – who I had formerly counted as a friend!

I heard a quote recently that has nestled deeply within my heart …"I’m not anxious to die. I’m just anxious to matter." I think that we all feel a little bit like that, don’t we?

Today, I have the privilege of introducing you to my dear friend, Carol Kent—a woman of deep faith, unwavering courage, and extraordinary wisdom.

Early each morning, I breathe in the whisper of the Holy Spirit on the sacred pages of scripture. During these quiet but significant moments, I am introduced to men and women who have become more real to me than my visible surroundings. As I ponder these heroes and heroines of the faith, I can’t help but choose favorites, can you? Just as a dearly loved friend enters my heart and becomes a kindred spirit, so do these warriors of the faith whom I can’t wait to meet some glorious day!

What are you afraid of? It’s a good question, isn’t it? It is a question that we all must answer with the greatest amount of courage we are able to muster. What is that one thing that brings absolute terror … unabated anxiety … and raging worry to your soul?
